The team at Ollie's, a Torquay based restaurant, believe that the best part about their food is the ingredients that they choose, and so are committed to nurturing long term relationships with suppliers across Devon so that they can get the very best produce available. Whilst the restaurant is informal and social, the food is nothing short of special.
You have several choices of starters at Ollie's, including the Chinese five spice belly pork bites with a sweet soy and garlic dipping sauce, and baked beetroot with salad of pear and red endive, goat's curd and shallot vinaigrette. Other starters include the crispy beef with hoisin and sesame, roasted half shell scallops with garlic butter and white wine, and classic prawn cocktail with ice cooled lettuce and Marie Rose sauce.
There are just three cuts of dry-aged grass fed beef – the ribeye, sirloin and fillet, each served with chips and a choice of sauce. For sharing cuts, though, there is the chateaubriand, tomahawk and porterhouse. Other mains include the chicken, bacon and truffle oil pie with mash, roasted cod with warm tartare Beurre Blanc and pak choi, and roasted cauliflower Kyiv with a fennel and orange salad. The lunch menu is served between Friday to Saturday, and starts with a round of nibbles. Choose from Cornish olives, soft shell crab and oysters on ice. The starters include half shell roasted scallops with white wine and panko, along with beetroot salad paired with pear and endive and goat's curd. Mains are quite similar to the a la carte menu. On Sundays there are Ollie's roasts, each served with luxury roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables and red wine and bone marrow gravy. Choose from belly pork, lamb rump and roasted turkey, alongside a few other options.
