Tom Kerridge to launch second food pub

Tom Kerridge at Royal Ascot - 1304_Ascot_Tom_Kerridge_IMG_5711_modified.jpgTom Kerridge, the chef-proprietor of Marlow’s two-Michelin-starred Hand & Flowers gastropub, has announced plans for a second food-led pub in the area.

Tom and his wife Beth Kerridge have taken over the Coach & Horses pub, which is on the same street as The Hand & Flowers. They are currently redeveloping the pub and it is due to open as The Coach in November. The pub previously served Chinese food and had remained largely unchanged for more than twenty years.

The Coach will have bar seating for 20 diners and tables for 20 more, food will be served from morning to evening. A key feature of both the room and the menu will be a rotisserie where joints of meat and bacon will be slowly roasted throughout the day. Other dishes available will include stuffed quail and moules marinière.

There will be a tapas element to the food offer, with dishes all served as they’re ready rather than in courses. Dishes will be smaller so that diners can choose to have one, two or a few dishes, or to share several. All the dishes will be priced between £6 and £15. There are also plans for a cake of the day.

The head chef will be Nick Beardshaw, who is currently senior sous chef at The Hand & Flowers. Kerridge has said that customers will be served by all members of the team, including chefs, in order that everyone is a part of the dining experience.

The Coach will be a more casual and cheaper alternative to The Hand & Flowers, which was ranked the fourth best restaurant in the UK at this year’s World’s 50 Best awards.
