Montpeliers is located in the heart of Ednburgh's Bruntsfield neighbourhood, and has cemented itself as the place to be for many locals for over twenty years. From the moment the doors open, the kitchen team at Montpeliers whip up delicious breakfast dishes, followed by brunch, lunch and dinner, all seven days of the week.
Nibble on some chargrilled garlic ciabatta, paired with roasted red pepper and lemon hummus before making your choice of main meals. Starters include the sweet potato and ginger soup, Stornoway black pudding scotch egg with homemade brown sauce and bang bang chicken with crisp Asian vegetables, chicken and bang bang peanut dressing. Summer is found in a bowl in the dish of roast peach, buffalo mozzarella and serrano ham salad with a mint and cider vinegar dressing. For a divine take, order the grown ups cottage pie in the hachis parmentier, made with slow cooked pulled ox cheek, red wine and parmesan crusted mash. The Scottish steak frites is served with shoestring fries and Diane sauce, and there's also a Thai green curry with jasmine rice, king prawn linguine with cherry tomatoes, spring onion, chilli, coriander and ginger pesto, and battered Scottish haddock with hand cut chips and pea puree.
The grilled king prawn and soba noodle salad is a real treat, drizzled with a yuzu and mint sauce, and the classic chicken club salad is always a favourite, made with chicken, crispy bacon, fried egg, tomato and mayo. All burgers on the menu come with fries, and there are options of buttermilk chicken, Scottish steak and a vegan patty. Be sure to treat yourself to one of the desserts, perhaps the banoffee pie or dark chocolate and hazelnut brownie with a creamy, salted caramel ice cream.
