No one could accuse Montparnasse Café of being unsure of its roots or its patriotic allegiance. This place is pure France, with croque monsieurs lined up in the cabinets alongside pain au chocolat,
croissants & countless other sweet treats. Scrubbed wooden floors & large windows at the back make it a pleasant place to sit & while away some time with a tartiflette & the papers
(Le Monde, of course), while an enticing cavalcade of patisserie, boulangerie, fruit tartets & the like is a match for anything you’d find on the streets of Montmartre. There are also French
sweeties (Carambar candy) pour les enfants, & a sign in the window advertises French lessons, held in the café with a femme called Amy. The coffee is pretty authentic, too.
