About
A light-filled corner café on Fitzrovia’s bustling Goodge Street, with communal tables and an upbeat vibe, MoBa is a French-run joint that fuses artisanal baguettes with the banh mi of France’s former colony, Vietnam. The result is a sizeable meal that packs plenty of flavour – down to the chewy, crusty bread that is kneaded with ingredients ranging from Dijon mustard to a masala spice blend that turns the dough bright pink. Fillings also work: we loved the rich coconut sauce in the Thai-style beef bourguignon. If a gargantuan sandwich at lunchtime sends you into a slump, choose from the ‘naked banh mi’ menu – salads topped with the banh mi fillings (the gravlax with an Asian-style dressing and noodles is a winner). MoBa’s French patisserie with an eastern twist (think matcha brownies and dense chocolate cake with a passion-fruit filling) is also a sure-fire way to perk up your afternoon.
