Mayfair’s ability to consistently throw up glistening, high-end restaurants left, right and centre knows no bounds, but Miro is surely one of the swankiest ventures to dig its heels into this swish part of town. Launched by one of London’s premiere nightlife and entertainment hospitality companies Cream Group, the hybrid restaurant (it calls itself a ‘clubstaurant’) offers early to late-night dining where it serves up global sharing plates inspired by Asian, European and South American cuisine.
Housed inside what was formerly Street XO, the dining room has been designed to evoke the seductive feel of a nightclub, where neon shades, eclectic details and hand-painted murals are juxtaposed against exposed brick walls.
Managing the kitchen is executive chef Toby Burrowes, previously at Zuma London and Michelin-starred Elystan Street, who has curated a menu of global favourites elevated with a ‘Mayfair’ twist. Expect dramatic presentation and some unlikely flavour pairings inspired by Toby’s travels across the globe.
The menu is comprised of small and larger sharing dishes. Examples of small plates include king crab and confit garlic croquettes, truffled cheese toasties and Miro’s take on fish and chips which features layers of crisp potato with fatty tuna and wasabi tartare. Larger dishes continue the luxurious theme, with high-grade cuts of steak available, as well as the likes of yuzu and sake lobster thermidor. In case you needed further reminding that you’re in a high-end establishment, the restaurant also serves a signature dish called sunken treasure chest featuring a kilogram of caviar surrounded by blinis, brioche buns, mini croissants and condiments, available for a whopping £3,000.
The drinks list includes a bespoke menu dedicated to rare and vintage cocktails, with prices ranging from £500-50,000. Look out for creations such as the Vintage French 75 made with a rare 1950s gin and a 1970 bottle of Dom Perignon (just beware of the £5,000 price tag).
A lounge and bar area seating 30 is available for walk-ins and offers a lively atmosphere for guests who might not be dining. For those looking to continue the party into the night, Miro hosts live DJs throughout the week with dancing highly encouraged.
