Slap bang on Riverside, you’ll find Miller & Carter, right next to the Oracle shopping centre. It themes itself around its speciality: steak, of which it has on the menu in abundance and variety. The meat is all sourced from the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland, then they are aged for approximately 30 days using an appropriate level of wetness or dryness of technique depending on the meat and the desired outcome. Why not take a break from a long and arduous shop, take the weight off of your feet and sit down to a warm and filling lunch?
The signature steaks are all served with a parsley butter on top, on the side of the cut you will find fries that are well seasoned, a beef tomato drizzled in balsamic vinegar, and an onion loaf of which the restaurant is famous for. Of course, if you want to have a lighter accompaniment to your steak, you are more than welcome to request a substitution freshly prepared wedge salad instead of the chips and tomatoes, and the sauce for your steak is customisable too.
Selecting a steak will require time, as there is plenty to choose between. The menu is separated between the ages of, and skill required to make, the steaks: 30 days, 50 days, and a masterful cut of a 50-day aged, grass fed Australian prime beef. The steaks are cut from the usual suspects, sirloin, fillet, rib-eye, T-bone, and rump among other options.
If whoever you are with wants a steak and is really enthusiastic about the idea, but you aren’t so much, but are fearful of disappointing them, then don’t worry too much, Miller & Carter offer more than just steak. There are other decently sized main meals on offer, usually comprising of meat, for example a butterflied chicken. However, you can also look at the fish options. In terms of vegetarian foods, we’d avoid eating here if you are on a plant-based diet, that is of course unless you love wedge salads, as this is really all the restaurant offers that will suit.
