Megan’s at the Sorting Office is the group’s Islington site, situated just off Upper Street and serving Megan’s tried and tested menu of Turkish-inspired all-day dishes and brunch treats. As the name suggests, you’ll find this site at the old Islington sorting office, just around the corner from the Almeida Theatre.
The interiors are a pleasing jumble of stylish - pipes weave along an industrial-chic ceiling, which also supports wicker lampshades. A bar runs the length of the room, and is clad in Portuguese-style geometric tiles, with space for counter diners. Seating is spread across a long communal table and a number of smaller tables for groups, but the big attraction in the summer is the huge terrace, which runs along the side of this quiet Islington side street.
As usual, Megan’s has a menu for every occasion. The brunch is hugely popular as always, offering everything from ‘nduja Turkish eggs with labneh and avocado to a comforting veggie brunch, as well as stuffed pittas, open kebabs, pancake stacks and more. In the afternoon the menu switches into more of a dinner vibe, with big mezze feasts to share, as well as grilled skewers, shish kebabs, and healthy salad bowls. People have been known to come to Megan’s just for desserts, including warm chocolate brownie, a range of cakes, and the legendary gooey, half-baked cookie dough sharing bowl with nutella, pistachio and ice cream.
The drinks options are similarly all-encompassing, ranging from all the hot drinks you could dream of in the mornings, to frozen cocktails, sangria pitchers, a hefty wine list, hard sodas and softs in the evenings. Throw in a variety of special deals and a happy hour every weekday evening and it’s no wonder Megan’s is so popular.
