Med. is a restaurant and wine bar in Brighton serving modern European food, a carefully curated wine list and bespoke cocktails. Dreamed up by friends and chefs Will Dennard and Jack Southan (who previously worked together at restaurant The Paradiso Social), this neighbourhood spot brings vibrant sharing plates, great music and a relaxed vibe to the south coast.
Located in the heart of Brighton's Lanes, and just a few minutes walk from the seafront, Med. offers locals and out-of-towners alike a menu of classic-with-a-twist dishes made from uber-fresh, seasonal produce. While wine lovers can enjoy a collection of more than 60 bottles, including a wealth of natural and low intervention wines, and plenty of by-the-glass options.
The menu begins with a range of small plates 'for the table', including the likes of bread with 'Med' butter, smoked watermelon sashimi, and coronation cauliflower pakoras. Do note that the menu changes all the time, so you're always likely to try something new.
Guests are then invited to select two main dishes per person from the larger plates section of the menu. Think pici cacio e pepe with hazelnut and miso, roman artichokes with grilled courgette, house ricotta and caponata, and mussels with fermented chilli, coconut and lemongrass.
For afters, there's usually only one choice of dessert to make things simple. At the time of writing, guests could indulge in blood orange ganache to round off their meal.
Drinks wise, expect high-quality cocktails which offer an updated twist on classic concoctions. Examples include the Garden Paloma made with altos, sipello, grapefruit and tomato, and the Ionian Negroni with Mastiha, Amaro and Campri, finished with an olive.
Med. boasts a warm and rustic space, with outdoor seating available during the summer months for guests to enjoy small plates and great wine while soaking up some rays.
