Lucy Wong is a sophisticated underground cocktail bar in Fitzrovia inspired by the 1957 novel ‘The World of Suzie Wong’ by Richard Mason. It's a love story set in Hong Kong in the 1950s, in which central character and London socialite Lucy Wong is famed for the notorious parties she hosts in her Fitzrovia apartment. Hence the idea for this venture, in which guests are invited to enter into the world of Lucy Wong from the moment they enter the bar. It’s brought to London by The Breakfast Group (Burlock, Salvador & Amanda, Opium), with influences from the book evident across all elements of the eclectic venue.
The concept is inspired by Hong Kong in the 50s, as well as The Breakfast Group founder’s Eric Yu’s memories of growing up in Hong Kong. Expect decor inspired by Chinese design, creative cocktails, as well as a food menu featuring plenty of Dim Sum and roast meats.
The cocktail list features a curated selection of signature creations, which change regularly and offer inventive Asian twists on old classics. The menu is overseen by renowned mixologist Dre´ Masso, who helped one of the group’s other bars Opium onto the 50 Best Cocktail bars in the UK list. Look out for creations such as a Shanghai 75, Cherry Blossom Manhattan and Dragon Old Fashioned.
Meanwhile, the food menu at Lucy Wong is designed to be enjoyed together with friends and features plenty of quintessential Cantonese dishes. Succulent roast meats are the star of the show, as well as indulgent Dim Sum platters which pair perfectly with the cocktails. On Saturdays, it also serves afternoon tea.
In the evenings, diners can expect to be treated to live music and chanteuse singers, which bring the stylised era of the bar to life.
