In the heart of Brighton lies Longrain, a well loved family run pan Asian restaurant that has become a cherished local hotspot. If you find yourself in the area, perhaps you’ve been exploring the seaside, walking around the town or catching up with friends, then pop by this hidden gem in the city. With a laid back decor and atmosphere, you can eat lunch or dinner here and not feel rushed or like you’re surrounded by anything too fussy, but instead, like you’re at home. With a commitment to sustainability, Longrain continues to rotate its menu offerings with what is available locally and seasonally - as they work with Brighton farmers who supply the restaurant's fresh fruits and vegetables.
All of the curries are served with Jasmine rice, and you can choose from the classic Green curry, made with kaffir lime, sweet holy basil, lemongrass & coconut milk with bamboo shoots and seasonal vegetables, and your choice of either organic vegetables or chicken. Or, try the beef rendang curry that is slow cooked in coconut milk and spices - originating from West Sumatra, the hours spent of this dish bubbling turn the protein soft and tender taking on the intense aromatics. There’s also the duck massaman curry, made with seared duck with aromatic peanut and coconut milk sauce served with new potatoes.
Main courses include pad Thai, Thailand's most favourite dish made with stir fried rice noodles with egg, bean sprouts, spring onion and peanuts, and Indonesian fried rice nasi goreng. For dessert, try the black rice pudding with fresh mango, coconut mochi and warm coconut sauce, or some Thai sticky rice. You’ll be delighted by whatever you choose at Longrain.
