Lahore One has been serving the good people of East London with authentic Punjabi food since 1984, and the friendly atmosphere and great food has made this a beloved restaurant in Whitechapel (though it was originally called New Lahore). This is a family restaurant through and through, and many of the dishes served here are based on old family recipes that have been handed down through multiple generations.
The dining room is cosy and intimate, with a series of wooden tables available on the ground floor and up the stairs. The decor is minimal, but it's the food that really does the talking at Lahore One. Experienced chefs behind the stoves cook up a huge range of dishes, always using ingredients that are locally sourced whenever possible and delivered fresh each day.
We'd always recommend asking if you feel you need help navigating the menu, as the Lahore One team are only to happy to guide you towards some of the house favourites. There are plenty of dishes that come straight from the raging heat of the tandoor - not just the fantastic naans but also the seekh kebab and chicken and lamb tikkas. If you're struggling to choose, head straight for the chef's specials, which include chilli king prawns in a capsicum curry sauce, boneless lamb karahai gosht, and the Lahore One signature karahai chicken, where boneless diced chicken is gently cooked down in a tomato curry sauce and finished with coriander.
Vegetarians have plenty of choice here too, whether it's the chickpea, ginger and coriander channa, creamy daal or a fantastic saag paneer. Sweet treats like kheer, kulfi and lassis are on offer to finish your meal too.
If you're in the area for lunch, pop in for one of Lahore One's delicious tikka rolls.
