Labombe Wine Bar is a new Monday night wine bar from Isa Bal and Jonny Lake, the team behind the adjoining Trivet, bringing simple yet elevated bar snacks and truly special wines to its Bermondsey location.
Whilst the main restaurant remains closed on the Monday guests are invited to its adjoining bar for an exclusive dining and drinking experience on this usually unpopular night of the week. The name has a charming backstory having been inspired by an imagined restaurant that Jonny rediscovered in his old French homework and the comment left by his teacher: ‘Where are the drinks!’. Isa’s expert help means there are now certainly plenty of drinks on offer with a curated selection from his celebrated 450-strong list. Monday nights at Labombe provide guests with the unique opportunity to sample some very special wines by the glass which range from wines of contemporary and conventional French, Italian, and American origin to wines from Armenia, Georgia, and Turkey. Trivet’s normal cocktail and other drink options are also available.
This superb selection is matched with a menu of small and large plates selected by Chef Jonny. This is comprised of snacks such as Focaccia with salume Rosa, seasonally rotating small plates such as their green asparagus with anchovy cream and scallop roe, and larger plates like their Costoletta alla Milanese. Notably, the menu also includes the Hot Tongue Bun, a very popular dish at Trivet, which is an Angus x Wagyu ox tongue dressed in an anchovy mayo, pickles, and blackcurrant mostarda. The dessert menu features Italian classics with Tiramisu on offer as well as dishes that reflect Jonny’s Canadian background with his childhood favorite Butter Tarts making an appearance.
The harmonious relationship between food and drink is at the core of Labombe Wine Bar and this guarantees guests a special experience in this exciting yet casual and relaxed drinking and dining environment.
