La Mome London at The Berkeley is set to open in January 2025
Set within The Berkeley, a five star Belgravia hotel, La Mome London is a glamorous restaurant inspired by the French Riviera, both past and present. Promising classic Mediterranean dishes with influences from Provance and Italy, La Mome London has taken over the dining room which housed Marcus Wareing’s eponymous Michelin-star restaurant. It comes from twin brothers and restauranteurs Ugo and Antoine Lecorché, known for their La Mome restaurants in Cannes and Monte Carlo.
Known as glitzy and sophisticated restaurants frequented by film stars, dignitaries and tourists alike La Mome London emerges in the same signature style. Designed by the award-winning Cannes interior architect Samy Chams, the 220-cover dining room features the same rich and seductive colour palette, with photographs by American photographer Slim Aarons depicting 1960s life in the French Riviera. The restaurant also offers al fresco dining on the terrace and a ten-seater bar which will serve cocktails alongside a menu of small bites.
As in Cannes, the La Mome London menu offers flame-grilled wild fish of the day (deboned at your table, of course), along with other quintessentially Mediterranean dishes. Dining at La Môme London is not just about the food; it's an immersive experience. Expect theatrical presentations. Dishes are prepared tableside, and rather than resetting tables between sittings, waiters carry freshly laid tables through the restaurant to replace the previous sitting. Cocktails follow the same theme, arriving under a cloche to reveal a shroud of dry ice.
The name ‘La Mome’ references one of Cannes’ most revered hostesses, Lucienne Suzanne Vreuric. Nicknamed La Mome Moineau (the little sparrow), she was a singer in the 1920s she became known for throwing luxurious parties and receptions at the lavish Villa Bagatelle in Cannes. True to its namesake, evening dining at La Mome London also offers a live music lineup that includes DJ sets, singers and pianists.
