Colourful, authentic La Chingada is on a mission to bring a real taste of Mexico to Bermondsey and beyond. London has taken to Mexican flavours but real Mexican food isn't as easy to find as you might think - La Chingada is keeping things authentic with corn tortillas and classic taco fillings, as well as burritos, quesadillas, tostadas and more. The restaurant even imports proper Mexican soft drinks like Jarritos direct from Mexico, to make sure that everyone gets the real Mexican dinner experience.
La Chingada is also committed to making sure everything used in the restaurant is top quality and often local - the restaurant uses local cheeses whenever possible, working with cheesemakers that reproduce Mexican cheeses in the UK.
Tacos, naturally, are the staple at La Chingada, and the restaurant serves up all your favourite classic fillings, from the meaty shred of confit pork carnitas, to confit beef suadero, chorizo, and a battered prawn taco with coleslaw and pineapple relish. There's a vegetarian option too, in the form of a cactus taco with cheese, mushrooms, onions and peppers.
If you're in the market for something a little more filling, a burrito might be more your vibe. La Chingada burritos come packed with rice and crunchy lettuce, as well as fillings like chorizo and pork al pastor. On Sundays, La Chingada also lines up a raft of special dishes like sopes with different toppings, braised beef birria, chicken pozole, and a variety of tostadas. These tend to sell out quite quickly as the restaurant attracts a foodie crowd on weekends.
Finally, we're onto desserts, if you still have room. Tres leches cake is common on the sweets menu, as is a mango cheesecake and a flan.
