Kyloe is an award-winning restaurant and grill located on the first floor of the Rutland Hotel. The restaurant enjoys spectacular views of the castle, the décor is contemporary and unique.
Kyloe is an old scots word for Highland beef cattle and was especially chosen as the name of the restaurant to highlight the quality Scottish produce used throughout the menu. Kyloe’s seasonal menu has been crafted by Head Chef John Rutter, who has designed many of the dishes around local produce and suppliers.
Starters include tempting dishes such as Belhaven lobster warm seafood platter and seared West Coast scallops. There is also a soup of the day served with homemade rye bread and Edinburgh butter. Other traditional starters include Haggis, and a British summer vegetable tempura.
Main courses feature a selection of high-quality meat and fish dishes. The steak menu offers a range of certified Scotch sourced beef, dry aged for a minimum of 28 days. Not only is there a good selection of steaks, you can also find other favourites on the menu such as chateaubriand, and sirloin on the bone. You will also find a good selection of sauces to choose from, and some indulgent sides such as hand cut chips with parmesan and truffle oil, and beef shin mac and cheese, served with lobster.
Kyloe offers an extensive drinks menu with plenty of choice available, from paired Argentinian wines to accompany your steak dish, to cocktails, liqueurs, beer and soft drinks.
