Koyo is a sushi tapasu bar on Sycamore Road that serves impressively high quality food every day (except Sunday, when the restaurant is closed). If you’re hunting for some authentic Japanese food, you’ll want to make sure you pay a visit to this charming restaurant in Amersham-on-the-Hill. Main dishes from the menu go down excellently with cold Japanese beers, whiskies and sake, and are paired beautifully with sides of slurping noodles and sushi to snack on.
The menu begins with sushi, and each dish is made fresh in house on the same day that you dine. Choose from sashimi grade Atlantic salmon, plant based veggie favourites with avocado maki and veggie gyozas, tuna and ginger uramaki, salmon kren, tuna dynamite rolls, sushi rainbows and tuna nigiri.
If you want a bit of everything, and like to share amongst the table, order a party platter, like the sushi tapas selection, which comes with tuna sashimi, salmon sushi, crab and veggie maki, and avo baby rolls. Then there's the izakaya street food, which is made for sharing. Choose from medium rare beef with a Koyo secret dressing, mixed leafs, pumpkin seeds and sticky rice, the meiji yakitori and karaage chicken made to the original recipe. Bowls include the tuna poke with line caught yellowfin fish, avocado, rice, muki beans, carrot, mango, ginger and wasabi sauce topped with sesame seeds. Bigger, hot dish bowls include the silken tofu with sticky rice and Koyo's katsu sauce, the chargrill chicken slurping noodles with slaw, and gyoza vegetable noodles.
Dessert is simple here, with Little Moons mochi balls of ice cream covered in sweet rice dough. Choose from chocolate ganache, salted caramel, green tea, mango, coconut, raspberry, strawberry cheesecake and vanilla.
