With its cartoon chicken logo, bright red signage and bargain-basement furnishings, Jerk City doesn’t take itself too seriously – although it has established itself as a fixture on Wardour Street
since originally setting up shop in 1998. Keen prices and honest Caribbean flavours keep the crowds interested as the kitchen knocks out an array of proper dishes designed for big Soho appetites.
Not surprisingly, jerk chicken wings are a top seller, but you could also kick off with pickled fish or lamb patties before tackling curried mutton, ‘brown’ seafood stew or peppered steak with
‘ground provisions’ (root vegetables). Also check out the range of roti dishes and sweets such as banana cake. Jerk City is a family-friendly, alcohol-free zone – but you can always quench your
thirst with soft drinks, ‘sour saps’ and pineapple punch. Takeaways and local deliveries, too.
