The location couldn’t be lovelier with panoramic views spanning Borrowdale Valley to Derwentwater in the distance. Dinner is the focus here – do book ahead – a daily changing set menu of two or four courses featuring local produce. Well-balanced starters might take in cream of wild mushroom soup or oak-smoked salmon with a lime butter parfait & toasted brioche. For mains, expect to see such things as roast loin of Cumbrian lamb with a garlic crumb on a pot roast of winter vegetables, or caramelised breast of Gressingham duck. Puddings such as honeycomb parfait make a sweet finish – or for a small sugar fix jump straight to coffee, which generously comes with handmade fudge & shortbread. Note the pre-theatre menu for those visiting Keswick’s theatre by the lake.
