At Harvey Nichols in Knightsbridge, food is by no means an afterthought. Instead, there are numerous spots to drink and dine dotted around the expansive shop. One such place is the cafe perched up on the fifth floor, which boasts its own terrace and various menus including brunch, afternoon tea, cocktails and more. It’s a light and bright space, with high ceilings, an expansive dining room and huge windows through which to view the rest of London.
Those starting their day at Harvey Nichols can kick things off with an elegant brunch cocktail, like a bloody mary, peach bellini, mimosa or Lilibet. If, however, it feels a little early for booze, there are smoothies, teas and coffees aplenty. To eat, shoppers can choose between lighter brunches like smashed avocado on sourdough, scrambled eggs with a truffle croissant and coconut yoghurt with granola or heartier options like a full fry-up. Elsewhere there are quicker options like a smoked salmon bagel or chicken club sandwich, ideal for those eager to get on with the day’s shopping.
Later in the day, the menu expands to a more global offering. Courtesy of Madhu’s Brasserie, diners can enjoy the likes of a lamb biryani or chilli chicken toasted wrap. Roasts are available too, including a half chicken, beef rump steak or salmon fillet, each with fondant potato, beef rump steak and salmon fillet. Diners can also supplement their meal with tasty sides like watermelon salad, heritage tomato salad, sweet potato fries, rocket salad or a bread basket. Finally, round off your meal at the cafe with a decadent dessert such as tart tatin, roasted peach galette with pistachio crumble, homemade truffles or a selection of cheese from Neal’s Yard Dairy.
To accompany your meal, there’s a short but varied wine list, with plenty of options by the glass as well as by the bottle. Given the cafe’s location, you won’t be surprised to learn there are numerous Champagnes available too, including the shop's own vintage.
