Upper-crust City suits have taken this younger version of Harry’s in Abchurch Yard to their hearts, and it’s not hard to see why. Pale colours, frosted glass and a touch of mid-century modernism create an elegantly ‘airy’ setting that’s perfect for latter-day Mad Men (and women), whether they’re scoffing on garganelli with rabbit ragù and Scottish prime rib eye steaks from the Euro-themed menu or loosening ties in the downstairs cocktail bar – where guest DJs liven up proceedings from Wednesday onwards. The bartenders muddle classic bellinis and more modish creations including the 20th century (Tanqueray gin, Lillet Blanc, chocolate liqueur and lemon juice), while the wine list scales the heights of Bordeaux grandeur but also accommodates more affordable glugging. Service is ‘efficient’ and the sunny internal courtyard is a delightful surprise.
