Hip Soho hairstylists, Blade, have brought new meaning to the phrase ‘half cut’ by opening a bar in the basement of their salon. This well-kept secret serves customers waiting for their locks to be trimmed (appointment needed), as well as members of Blade’s Precision Club – so, your short back and sides might be preceded by a swift whisky (Glenfarclas, Springbank, or Laphroaig 10 cask-strength, perhaps) or a glass of biodynamic wine (Meinklang Austrian Grüner Veltliner, for instance). There are cocktails, too (try an Espresso Martini made with organic vodka; or a Pomegranate Screwdriver), and a Harviestoun craft beer could follow your crew cut. The bar trades daily from noon until mid-evening. Open to all, the ground-floor iCafe features mounted iPads to play with while you sip organic Ethiopian 100% arabica coffees, Rooibos tea ‘espressos’ and amino acid-rich matcha green tea – though we can’t promise that prices are a snip.
