The Garden Bar of House Bars does exactly what the name suggests, offering diners a spacious beer garden to enjoy their drinks, food and company from friends. The Notting Hill bar has a relaxed interior that gives off a distinct indoor garden vibe with accents of copper, tiled patterns on the floor, potted plants and wooden beer garden-esque benches to invite conversation. In the garden out back, find bright green walls lined with fairy lights, and a canopy of trees and bushes forming over the benches and tables, giving it a quaint secret garden feel.
Open every day from 11am, the Garden Bar is the perfect spot to have a drink while the sun is out and feel like you’re in a leafy paradise, no matter the time of year. The garden out back is the largest garden in Notting Hill to accommodate for bigger groups and has a few areas under shelter for unexpected wet weather.
The food menu includes modern European dishes as well as the usual pub fare. Start with a hummus and pitta plate or bruschetta with grilled halloumi, roasted red pepper and topped with sundried tomato pesto. Move onto pork sausages and mash covered in red wine gravy for mains or a vegetarian dish of roast butternut squash, grilled goat’s cheese, beetroot salsa and a balsamic glaze. For dessert, feast on a sticky toffee pudding with caramel sauce and or choose a scoop of chocolate, vanilla or hazelnut Italian ice-cream.
The Garden Bar has a menu for the kiddies with cartoon characters to colour in to keep them busy while their folks tuck into their meals. The small dishes include fish fingers, Cumberland sausages, chicken nuggets and pasta, plus they all come with a sundae-style glass of vanilla ice-cream for a set price. Every weekend during the summer, the bar host a barbecue in the garden and serves drinks from a thatched bar outdoors to pair with flame grilled meats.
