Following several successful global sites in hubs like Dubai and Monte Carlo, Gaia has arrived in Mayfair occupying a space in the One Berkeley Square development. Specialising in fine dining Greek cuisine, this concept restaurant was created by renowned restaurateur Evgeny Kuzin, who has expressed ‘it’s imperative that Gaia has a home in London’, and nowhere is better suited for it than swanky Mayfair.
Gaia is open for dinner every day and lunch on the weekends, and comprises a 150 cover dining room, an elevated lounge and cocktail bar, a subterranean members club, and outdoor seating, perfect for a tipple and nibble during the warmer months. Upon entry, you’re greeted by a distinctly refined Taverna setting, complete with white washed limestone walls, neutral tones, Mediterranean art and banquette seating. At one end of the room there is a fresh seafood counter, showcasing the daily market selection, but there is also plenty of meat and vegetarian plates on the menu.
With heavy inspiration from Greek cuisine, you’ll find familiar favourites to enjoy like mezze dishes of stuffed vine leaves, taramosalata, and aubergine dip, as well as luxurious options like caviar and marinated prawns. Large plates include grilled lamb cutlets with tzatziki cooked in the traditional wood oven, comforting moussaka, and seafood dishes like orzo of calamari, prawns and clams, and the signature seabass ceviche.
To accompany your meal, there is a European focussed wine list with sought after labels from world famous vineyards, with some availabile by the glass, and an enticing cocktail list. Enjoy classic concoctions or try one of the more unique combinations inspired by Gaia’s namesake, the Greek goddess of Earth. These include the Theo, which sees olive oil infused tequila flavoured with basil, bergamot and mastika, and the Talos, a zesty mix of orange gin, beetroot and dried fig.
