Located in the heart of quaint Southampton, Franco Manca’s third ever location outside of London sits. The restaurant is perfect for tourists and locals, alike and is super easy to get to, just a short, ten minute walk from Southampton central station. The pizzeria is so close to the Arundel Tower, Forty Steps, and the Southampton Old wall, this historic town has so much to offer. If you’ve seen all the local sights, there is also a cinema and plenty of great shops nearby too. On a sunny day, have your pizza to go and eat at the Palmerston Park, to the envy of everyone else.
Right in the centre of the town, near the docks, the pizzeria itself is stunning. The outside seating area is enclosed by pretty greenery and is spacious, great for catching some rays. The interior is cool and modern, with the floor to ceiling glass windows bringing in plenty of light and fresh air. The inside is still intimate and cosy, with the warmth of the wood-fired ovens keeping you toasty and happy. There are wooden accents in the décor offset by marbling features and the bright hanging lights strung all around the restaurant.
You won’t be able to miss the main feature of the room, the amazing oven which turns out delicious pizza after pizza. The ovens are custom-made for each restaurant, delivered from Naples, and a key part of the success of the franchise. The ingredients are sourced from Italian and British producers, from Calabrian anchovies to Somerset ricotta, and from every region in between. The beers are no logo, and the wines are from vineyards of Sicily, Abruzzo, and Piedmont. The ingredients and flavours are a celebration of both countries’ produce, but with a heavy emphasis on authentic Neapolitan-style pizza.
