Flute is Broadwick Soho’s rooftop dining bar, complete with wraparound outdoor terrace that serves up stunning views of Soho and the London skyline beyond. The name derives from Soho’s long history - Broadwick Street was once home to a noted flute-maker, who now inspires the name of this bar.
Head up to the top floor and you’ll find the jewel in Broadwick Soho’s crown - a spectacular rooftop bar, decked out in warm orange and soothing green tones. Shimmering curtains and mirrors give Flute plenty of glitz, and animal-print upholstery, cork walls and a patterned palm-frond carpet all contribute to the maximalist glamour of the space. Then at the centre of the room there’s the piece de resistance - Flute’s dramatic onyx, mirror-clad circular bar, topped with gold table lamps.
Flute serves a compact food menu with wide international inspiration. Right at the top you’ll find Oscietra caviar, served with baked pink fir potatoes, creme fraiche and chives, but there are also dishes like beef tartare with truffle, artichoke and Parmesan, and buttermilk fried chicken with ranch dressing. Broadwick Soho loves a dessert, and sweet treats like coffee and hazelnut tart, and Happy Endings ice cream sandwiches are available on the rooftop too.
The real attraction is the cocktail list, which includes twists on classics (a French 75 made with aquavit, Myagawa, Thai basil and Champagne, for example, or a Negroni made with whisky, plums, rosehip, vermouth and bitters). That said, Flute has plenty to offer wine connoisseurs too, including some very desirable French vintages, and a wide selection of fizz, spirits and non-alcoholic drinks.
