You can eat in at Fish & Fritz if you want to, but it’s much more fun to grab your bag of freshly fried, sustainably sourced cod and chips – ensuring it’s sodden with vinegar and crackling with salt – and head for Weymouth’s award-winning sandy beach (one of the few to still host a pre-PC Punch & Judy show with no holds barred). Fish and chips are two a penny in Weymouth, but F&F undoubtedly has the edge; there’s something particularly ample and wholesome about their offer – perhaps it’s the impressively ornate surrounds close to the harbour, or even their closely guarded batter formula. Whatever the secret, their fame has spread far and wide – so be prepared to queue. Great for kids’ parties and special bashes too.
