Following on from their restaurant at the Serpentine, Benugo’s latest grazing opportunity is reason to explore a park before dark. Drop into the jaunty chalet-style refectory for breakfast –
anything from eggs Benedict to porridge with maple syrup and poached plums – or pitch up for an all-day menu that has 12-inch pizzas from the wood-fired oven (asparagus and dolcelatte or spicy
salami with brie and courgettes are about right at £11.50). Mains include risotto primavera, tuna panzanella salad and char-grilled lamb cutlets with caponata, while tiramisu continues the Italian
theme. After work, kick back on the shaded terrace and watch sporty types work up a sweat as you chill with a negroni, a Moretti beer or a fruity high-summer rosé. Note that the place shuts
promptly, when Lincoln’s Inn Fields’ gates are locked at various hours depending on the season.
