FARE Eatery offers modern, seasonal dining in a stunning location, taking over Wokingham Town Hall, a Grade II Listed building brimming with character and history. This newly-opened restaurant offers both lunch and dinner slots, seven days a week, primarily in the main dining room. But, for special occasions check out the old town hall's prison cells, which have been converted into quirky booths for dinner or drinks with a twist.
FARE Eatery's concept is all about British seasonal produce and the team have even dedicated an on-going blog on the website to the ingredients they are most excited about, season by season. As for the menu, dishes are broken up into breakfast and all-day food, with special focuses on artisan sandwiches and robata grill cooking, both of which the team see as a signature speciality. While the menu is ever changing, for an example of what to expect, you could begin with snacks like crispy pigs head served with truffle mayonnaise and apple, as well as crispy potatoes with baba ganoush. From the larder, there's Isle of Wight heritage tomato salad with basil and nasturtium, as well as confit duck and smoked chicken terrine with pistachios and pickles.
Fancy something hot? We like the sound of the St. Austell Bay mussels with cider, bacon and crème fraiche or spiced short rib with sweetcorn and pickled chilli. While the robata grill offers a smokey flavour across dishes like West End Farm pork chop with heritage carrots and cider sauce. Load up on sides like asparagus and almond dressing, but don't forget to save room for dessert like strawberry Eton Mess with crumble and mint.
The team at Fare Eatery are also really passionate about low intervention wines and have an impressive list to choose from, with wines by the glass and carafe changing every day to give regulars even more choice.
