About
Retro-American chain Ed’s Easy Diner comes to Cambridge’s glitzy central shopping mall with a dizzying array of burgers, fried chicken, ribs, hot dogs and fries served in every imaginable way. To our minds, though, the best choice is to laugh in the face of type-2 diabetes and order one of the ice cream-based shakes or malts. Frequent queues suggest locals aren’t put off by patchy service, variable quality or the obesity threat. If it’s not bright and bustling enough for you inside the concession, sit on one of the tables ‘outside’ on the walkway overlooking jostling shoppers. There are better burgers being produced by the independents (try Butch Annies) and there are better fast-food eateries nearby (try Nanna Mexico just outside the mall on Petit Cury), but if you find yourself in the Grand Arcade during school holidays you can rely on Ed’s to please the kids.
