This unassuming café on New Street evolves into a bustling, often boisterous, cocktail bar in the evening. The Jekyll and Hyde-like transformation is down to Dusk’s solid reputation as a good place
for mixed drinks – not to mention its on-going ‘2-for-1’ deals from Monday to Thursday. However, the bar’s popularity does have its downside: trying to get served on a weekend can be a painfully
slow process. Booze aside, Dusk makes efforts to bring in interesting guest DJs, as well as holding popular theme nights (Star Wars New Year’s party, anyone?). Furthermore, Dusk is (surprisingly)
one of the few places offering free Wi-Fi in York, which gives it yet another dimension. Get there early, order a cocktail and surf the net on the outdoor terrace – a perfect way to pretend you’re
doing some work.
