Delamina Townhouse is a warm and lively restaurant in Covent Garden, serving food inspired by Eastern Mediterranean home cooking. The third in Delamina’s portfolio of restaurants by husband and wife owners Limor and Amir Chen, who also run Delamina Townhouse’s sister sites in Marylebone and Shoreditch. All of the Delamina restaurants are inspired by Limor’s upbringing in Tel Aviv and love for the fusion Mediterranean cooking she grew up eating.
Delamina Townhouse, is, as the name suggests, set in a Georgian townhouse building in Covent Garden. The Grade-II listed site retains many original features like two fireplaces, decorative wall panelling, and large Georgian-style windows which douse the dining rooms in natural light. The townhouse setting is the perfect accompaniment to Delamina’s approach to warm, welcoming approach to hospitality. The restaurant also features a small outdoor terrace.
Some staple Delamina dishes feature at each of their restaurants, like a chargrilled cauliflower with lemon-infused creme fraiche and pomegranate molasses, beef shawarma with dates and pine kernels, and a salad of house pickles, vegetables, herbs and tahini.
Delamina Townhouse’s menu also features dishes created specifically for the site. These dishes place an emphasis on the Mediterranean affinity for seafood, offering an arak-cured sea trout, and za’atar-marinated seafood from the grill with golden beetroot aioli - a perfect example of Delamina’s deft ability to showcase the region’s best ingredients through deceptively simple recipes.
Desserts are also not to be missed, with a choice of Kadayif nest of vanilla cheesecake cream with caramelised pecans and an orange peel reduction, or a parfait of macadamia nuts and Irish cream. In terms of drinks, there’s a mix of lesser known wines from the Middle East, alongside cocktails which also make use of the vibrant spices of the region to deliver innovative tipples.
