This healthy eating daytime café would be more at home serving yummy mummies in London’s Nappy Valley than in the modest Cambridge suburb of Cherry Hinton. Mashed avocado and a boiled egg (free-range, naturally) on bread is the most straightforward dish to be found on Co’s brief and quirky menu: a list that abounds in tofu, quinoa and kale. Clean, pared-back decor sparsely displaying artisanal products and the obligatory yoga ads on the walls hammer home the modern hippy philosophy. Happily, some guilty pleasures can still be indulged here; the coconut arancini and the coffee are excellent. Parking isn’t easy, but Co makes a great alternative to the ever-busy Gog Magog Hills Farm Shop or Shelford Delicatessen – especially for vegetarians, vegans and the dairy-free brigade.
