Ciullõsteria

Ciullo is deserving of a good first review! We ate as a group of 4 midweek at an 8pm booking. The place was almost full (though it did thin out after 9pm) and was quite noisy; service was quite rushed to begin with. A plain dining area with tables pretty close together; there are a couple of ancient skis and boots on the wall for 'atmosphere' plus an enormous tube of tomato paste - apparently a souvenir from years back. We ordered largely from the specials page for starters - sardines, scallops and chorizo (nicely spicy), baked eggplant and beef carpaccio; then branzino and veal mains, plus a pasta special with lots of seafood, garlic and chili - as requested. All came out hot and clearly freshly prepared. Wine (all Italian) was reasonably priced; we ordered some Grechetto from central Italy which tasted very good, and was only £26. We ate at our leisure and were out in under 2 hours for £85 per couple; good value for the quality of food offered.
