About

We're sure you've heard of Chucs, the boutique restaurant collection which spans four restaurants in some of London's most covetable postcodes. But, did you know that the Mayfair branch was its original flagship? Inspired by the glamorous yachts of 1950s 'la dolce vita' Italia and Slim Aarons photography, inside you'll find gleaming blonde wooden joinery, swish leather banquette seating and Venetian-style chandeliers.

With just 18 covers, the vibe is intimate and, if the mood so strikes, romantic. Not only a great place for a date, it's a stylish spot for meeting friends, and you might even double-take at a few famous faces, being known as a celebrity favourite.

There's a curated selection of menus on offer; breakfast, brunch and all day dining. Each are inspired by Italian cuisine with highlights from the main menu including starters of burrata and datterini tomatoes and basil, and chalk farm smoked salmon with horseradish, egg and cornichons. With mains looking like lobster linguine, grilled lamb cutlets osso bucco, piperade and fennel, and roasted seabass with Sicilian caponata, pine nuts and basil.

Drinks, of course, follow suit with Italian classics such as Aperol Spritz, Bergamot Spritz and Negroni Al Caffe. This gets really fun at free-flowing brunch, where aperitivo tipples such as bellini, champagne and spritz are refilled when enjoyed with a main and dessert. On this menu, you'll find crowd-pleasers like poached eggs and smashed avocado on sourdough and club sandwich with chicken, bacon, egg and avocado, followed by ricotta and vanilla cheesecake and Chucs' tiramisu.

There's also plenty going on from 'Mondays Uncorked' where diners are invited to bring along their own bottle of wine for a low corkage charge, to offers on complimentary arancini when purchasing multiple cocktails. And, if you're looking for a special place to host an event, you can even talk to the team about taking over the restaurant just for you and your guests.

Overpriced and overcrowded
Two of us went to this restaurant on a mid week night. It is very small- three tables outside and six inside. If you're making a deal or want to have an intimate conversation, it's impossible because the tables are rammed right against each other. We had a table of four next to us who were competing for the most obnoxious behaviour. Constant texting and [phone calls, The prices on the wine list were abusive- I think the cheapest bottle of red was 45! We went instead for what were the most expensive restaurant cocktails in town (16 each) . The starter was good but the mains were disappointing. The chicken was dull and a little dry. The risotto was better but hardly imaginative. Dessert was ok. Service was average. The bill for this crowded table, unimaginative food and overpriced drinks was 160 for two! I can think of many other restaurants where that money would be much better spent.

This place is part of Chucs, the menswear clothing store next door. Essentially it's Italian food done very well. Cocktails were great, with a men's supper club feel. Great decor- wooden walls and vintage images from the Italian Riviera. All in all, a great meal in a very beautiful and intimate restaurant.

I love Italy, and would love to spend more time there, so stumbling upon this place (after only a few days of opening) was a huge stroke of luck! The place is tiny and feels intimate and personal. We were seen to immediately and had cocktails at our table within minutes. The food was delicious- a true reflection of the Amalfi coast. And better yet the wooden walls are lined with images past and present of the Italian coastline and vacationers. It really feels like an old world mens club somewhere in the south of Italy. We'll definitely be going back and would hugely recommend it.
