Chop Chop by Four Seasons has taken up residence at London’s landmark casino The Hippodrome in Leicester Square. This casual Chinese restaurant specialises in roast duck and authentic Cantonese dishes, including a range of premium dim sum. Renowned restaurant group Four Seasons is known for serving some of the best Cantonese food in the country and guests can expect to sample plenty of its signature dishes at this sister site on one of London’s busiest tourist spots.
Hidden away on the lower ground floor of The Hippodrome, this informal subterranean eatery is open from 6pm to 4am, making it ideal for those looking for anything from a quick after-work supper through to late-night (or early morning!) dining. The interiors are the work of Rachel O’Toole who has taken influences from 1950s Hong Kong to support the retro design, with formica-topped tables, stools, intimate booths and high counter seating. Take stock of the neon dragon adorning the walls, which represents power and strength.
The star of the menu is the Four Seasons’ signature Hong Kong style roast duck, which is made to a secret recipe: dried and marinated with a special mix of spices and herbs, then roasted in a specially-built roast furnace for the perfect crispy outer skin. Other signature dishes include hot and sour soup, pork and prawn wontons, as well as an array of prawn, pork and vegan dumplings and buns. Mains are a mix and match affair with options such as char sui BBQ pork, roast crispy pork belly, black pepper lobster with asparagus, and vegan braised aubergine. Elsewhere, noodles, rice and side dishes complete the offering. Finish with a Chop Chop ice cream stick to round-off the experience!
Finally, the drinks list features a concise selection of wines, cider and brews including Tsingtao Chinese beer and teas such as Jasmine, Chinese Oolong and Chrysanthemum.
