SquareMeal Review of Cats Café Des Artistes

From the panther snarling above the doorway to The Beatles shrine on one wall & a signed picture of Lennox Lewis, this brilliantly barmy Thai restaurant is a showcase for the owner’s passions; thankfully, these also include a belief in the pleasure of good food shared with friends in relaxed surroundings. Sit at a carved wooden table imported from Thailand as helpful, friendly staff weave through the crowds to bring you a selection of fresh, inexpensive dishes. Standouts include the ‘ocean special’ seafood soup, zingy with lemongrass & chilli, & ‘volcano chicken’ – a whole bird marinated in turmeric, coriander & garlic & flambéed. Wines (all under £20) include a party-perfect Prosecco at £15.45. Puddings are just as fun, with knickerbocker glory & banana split taking their place alongside the lychees & rambutan.

Absolutely Diabolical Food

My Friends and I ordered a takeaway from  Cats on Tuesday evening (27th Feb) about 7.30 /8.00!pm - we opted for collection and was told it would take. 20 minutes, we got there just under 30mins - food wasn't ready but as we ordered well over £100 of food we were happy to wait a further 10mins.

when we arrived back home I was digested to open up the containers- the king grilled prawns were tiny and was not fresh the prawns looked as if they were cooked yesterday and was very chewy and stale,

the sticky rice to our shock horror was in a plastic bag - which had been so microwaved it was a hard slab of block rice - which had to be thrown away the wonton were oily and burnt, the soups with the crispy noodle were a grey colour and tastes awful.

I insisted that we should return the food, but our host were so embarrassed that we simply threw it away and ordered pizza.

If I had paid for this meal I would have returned it instantly.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE
