Carrubo is a bar concept launched by TVG Hospitality in London Bridge – aka the group behind London’s Flat Iron Square and Goods Way (at King’s Cross).
Carrubo is a laid-back bar inspired by the bayside bars that colour the coasts of the Mediterranean. The idea is to transport guests from bankside to bayside by bringing the same electric bustle and atmosphere to this corner of SE1.
The space comprises both alfresco seating and a covered area ensuring people can visit the bar all year round. During the summer, guests are invited to take full advantage of the balmy weather with a host of sun-trapped tables available, while during the winter months there’s plenty of covered seating in case guests need to take refuge from the wind and drizzle.
The décor has been designed to evoke ‘oceanside vibes’, with rustic grey paving, wooden decking, large umbrellas, lots of brickwork and large terracotta pots creating a warm, holiday feel. Do note that Carrubo doesn’t accept bookings to keep things suitably relaxed and impromptu.
While Carrubo is first and foremost a bar, there is a small food menu focused on sharing plates and light bites. Discover a tasty array of crostinis to snack on, with toppings such as white crab and avocado, ricotta and confit tomatoes, prosciutto with basil and crème fraiche, smoked aubergine with basil, and smoked salmon and cream cheese. Again, the food champions Mediterranean ingredients and classic flavour combinations.
Wash it all down with a generous drinks selection comprised of on-tap wine, draft beers, hard seltzers, classic spritz’ and a range of non-alcoholic options, ensuring there is something for everyone.
