About

Fancy a truly unique experience? Book a visit to the Carriages Tea Rooms. Michael Attle was inspired by a visit to a restaurant that was located in a colonial railway station in India, and dreamt up the idea of Carriages. Attle bought the station platform from Oakham and began the journey of serving wonderful food in a unique location to the residents and visitors of East Anglia. After sourcing some Pullman Style Carriages, a 1920s station house and flagstones, this truly beautiful venue has captivated visitors.

If you want to enjoy a truly fabulous experience, order the Carriages afternoon tea. You'll be presented with a selection of gourmet sandwiches, along with a large freshly baked scone that is served with Cornish clotted cream or butter, and homemade jam or lemon curd. There are a selection of petit fours, too, made with the site's own free range eggs. All of this is accompanied by a choice of single estate loose leaf teas or coffees. You can add a glass of Champagne if you so wish, of course.

There’s a beautiful selection of wines, spirits, coffees, softs and teas to choose from, and you’ll be able to enjoy them alongside your sandwiches and sweets to have a wonderful dining experience
