Carnewas Tearooms in Cornwall overlooks the beautiful, and very famous, Bedruthan Steps. Surrounding the tearooms you'll have views that cast onto the wider parklands and Cornish countryside, and from the moment you step inside you'll be greeted with a warm embrace. The cafe has a lot of history to its name, after beginning as an old mining stable. What was once a horse paddock is now the tea garden, and serves as the perfect spot for a scrumptious bite to eat and rest from exploring.
For the cream teas, the scones are made fresh each morning and topped up throughout the day when the tearooms are particularly busy. The team uses only the finest ingredients to make their sweet treats, and using a family recipe, the scones are made completely by hand. This same recipe has been used for up to 300 scones a day for the last 30 years, and so it's no surprise that those with great taste flock from near and far to taste some of the best Cornish hospitality. It's not just the scones that are truly Cornish – as produce is sourced from all over, including clotted cream from Williams Dairy, Miles tea and strawberry jam from Hogs Bottom.
There are always savoury treats on the menu, including toasted sandwiches that are served with a salad garnish, such as the bacon and brie and sardine and sliced tomato, along with ham and cheese rolls, and a selection of daily specials.
