Set among the Old Town’s subterranean caverns and billed as a ‘celebration of jiggery pokery’, Cabaret Voltaire spreads itself over two floors with lots of nooks and crannies as well as various
bookable booths for parties, assignations or a spot of gambling. Not surprisingly, it’s a hot bed of underground, alternative and techno music – although it’s also home to dominoes and regular quiz
nights. During the day, you can drop by for one their ‘2-4-1’ pizzas (perhaps wild mushroom and rocket or lamb and red chilli meatballs), read a magazine and sip Fairtrade coffee, while evening
heralds craft beers and cocktails – how about a planter’s punch (Myer’s dark rum, berry syrup, lime, orange and soda) or the next king of Scotland (King’s ginger liqueur, Edinburgh gin, cucumber,
sugar, lemon and apple juice)?
