This Bloomsbury addition to the unstoppable indie burger scene is a low-key joint across from the Brunswick Centre – just a stroll from touristy Russell Square. Wood floors, deep-blue leather booths and rows of wall tiles set the set the scene for a tight menu offering half-a-dozen variations on the burger theme bolstered by pulled pork sandwiches, classic chicken Caesar salad and four sorts of hot dog with fried onions, sauerkraut and dill pickles. There are also the usual sides (stuffed jalapeño ‘poppers’, mac ‘n’ cheese, buffalo wings with blue cheese dip), while sweet hits are confined to slabs of peanut butter cheesecake. As for the ‘shakes’, choose something ‘soft’ (chocolate, salted caramel, strawberry) or go for a ‘hard’ Ovaltini (coconut, rum, Tequila and malted liquor). Speedy service and keen prices are plus points.
