Formerly known as Tennyson's, the Breakwater Brasserie is a restaurant and wine bar located within Bude's Falcon Hotel. Providing a slightly more formal atmosphere than the hotel's other food offering, The Coachman's Bar & Grill, Breakwater Brasserie is all about fresh, locally sourced food in contemporary surroundings. Breakwater Brasserie's classy ambience lends itself brilliantly both to romantic dinners for two, and indulgent meals with friends. For a meal out in Bude that's a little more special than the average bistro, the Breakwater Brasserie could be just what you're looking for, but booking ahead is recommended.
The canal-side Falcon Hotel has an immediate air of luxury to it thanks to its impressive white exterior, which contrasts wonderfully with the greenery surrounding the building. The hotel may be just a short walk from Bude's charming town centre, but its idyllic waterside location makes it feel almost like a rural escape. Breakwater Brasserie itself has been elegantly decorated to give a contemporary yet slick feel to the space; there is a mixture of soft seating and banquettes in the fully air-conditioned room, while there are also more formal areas in the brasserie which are perfect for special occasions. The hotel's outdoor beer terrace is a fantastic spot for a pre-dinner drink with views across the canal.
Breakwater Brasserie's food offering consists of a mixture of seasonal specials and crowd-pleasing favourites, including a number of fresh fish dishes, as well as plenty of meatier options and some vegetarian-friendly dishes. Open for dinner every evening, Breakwater Brasserie is also open for Sunday lunch, where diners can choose from a selection of roasts alongside some of the restaurant's other best sellers.
A number of different wines are offered both by the bottle and glass, while there are three beers available on draught alongside a selection of spirits, soft drinks and more.
