An authentically 1950s’ American bowling alley in London, Bloomsbury Lanes has eschewed the glitz & glamour of other boutique venues in favour of authenticity, kitting itself out with reclaimed fittings wherever possible. Laneside meals take the form of classic diner food, from buffalo wings & chilli nachos to ice creams & shakes. In between, go for the juicy Kingpin Burger or the Bloomsbury club sandwich – unless you fancy a hot dog, pizza or salad. Fittingly for a tenpin alley, there are 10 beers & ciders, plus so-called ‘hard shakes’ – ice cream concoctions laced with liquor: a shot of the fiendishly good Brooklyn hit (vanilla ice cream, Jack Daniel’s, peanut butter & maple syrup) is just the thing to boost your bowling prowess. Or maybe not.
