Gloria, the muse inspiring this buzzing new party pit, was a 1960s chick who shacked up with Hendrix and taught Bowie how to drag up to the nines, allegedly. Fans of sister bar Tonight Josephine will know what to expect here: Day-Glo 1960s acid-trip prints; late-night shape-throwing to slamming dance anthems; cameras and TV screens loved by selfie-obsessed millennials; and lashings of liquor. Lad lagers, no-nonsense vino, bubbles, fruit-flavoured ciders, shots and bombs are downed in heroic quantities – especially during happy hours – but the main draw is undoubtedly the cocktails. Gloria’s ‘premium pleasures’ are a cast of familiars (Porn Star Martini, Flaming Zombie, Pineapple Negroni and the like). They are joined by various retro-inspired rockers such as Purple Haze (Gin Martini Aviation minus the maraschino), Ziggy’s Stardust, and Blame Yoko (a saké, honied jasmine tea, ginger ale and gin job) – as miffed hardcore Beatles fans do to this day.
