Located on Rivington Street, just a short walk from Old Street Station, this is Blacklock's Shoreditch location, offering up quality chop house cuisine to the locals.
Chophouses date back to the 1690s, and they quickly became one of the most loved haunts of towns and cities across the country. Offering a selection of meat cuts still attached to the bone for that extra burst of flavour, these chophouses were all about being reliable and sincere. Chophouses are all about getting together, whether with friends, loved ones, or colleagues, to enjoy a delicious and high quality meal. Blacklock was born out of this idea, reinventing the chophouse for the modern day diner, championing the ideas of what a chop house is and serving unpretentious dishes to customers in familiar, friendly settings. Blacklock Soho is located in a former brothel that turned into the notourious Le Reims lap dancing club before becoming the restaurant it is today. The vibe inside this restaurant remains true to its Soho heritage, with cosy corners and a staircase descent to get into the restaurant.
The menu is simple, yet delicious. Mushrooms on toast, pig's head with gravy and cull yaw crumpets are all options for starters, whilst slightly less hungry tummies can enjoy some pre chop bites before their main meal. Steaks are dry aged up to 55 days and include the Denver, rump fillet, rump cap and sixth rib eye. Bigger chops, which are door stop thick and enough for two to share, include the porterhouse, prime rib and bone in sirloin. Enjoy sides like the heritage carrots with hazelnuts, beef dripping chips and winter slaw on the side, and sauces of Blacklock gravy or garlic marrow spread. For pudding, enjoy Blacklock's take on a nostalgic dish, the white chocolate cheesecake, which is served to you tableside with a 'say when' approach.
