Black Ivy Edinburgh is a stylish boutique hotel, bar and restaurant that is located in Bruntsfield. You can pay the Black Ivy team a visit from 8am in the morning, with food served right through the day until 10pm. If you're not ready to leave after dinner, make your way into the bar and dance the night away – well, until 1am. The team focuses on luxurious dining, but in an unpretentious way. Dishes are smart but comfortable, and you'll find that some classics have had a fancy twist.
At breakfast time you can order the full Scottish skillet with dry cured back bacon, pork sausages, roasted plum tomato, Portobello mushroom, beans, potato scone, black pudding, haggis, wholemeal toast and eggs your way. If you prefer a sweet breakfast, try the buttermilk pancakes with berries and maple syrup. For dinner or lunch, you'll choose from the main menu. Nibbles include mixed green and kalamata olives, with sharing platters of nachos topped with melted cheese, jalapenos, salsa, guacamole, sour cream and your choice of haggis, the veggie alternative or BBQ pulled pork.
Starters include the panko breaded king prawn tacos with lettuce, tomato salsa, red cabbage, lime and coriander mayo and the truffled mushroom bruschetta with courgette and cherry tomatoes. Steak pie and chips is one of the hits on the main menu, made with slow braised Scottish steak, homemade gravy, puff pastry, tenderstem broccoli, chantenay carrots and thick cut chips. Some of the dishes you won't find just anywhere include the pan fried coley with nicoise potatoes, green beans, kalamata olives, red onion, capers and green pesto. Finish off with a dessert of Prosecco and strawberry pavlova with homemade meringue, whipped cream and Prosecco soaked strawberries.
