Full of the signature Bill’s charm, Bill’s York is located right in the city centre, so after exploring the walled gothic city, visit for a teatime treat, or, depending on the time of day, a full three-course meal. With quirky décor, an all-day menu and kids menu, this restaurant will be sure to please everyone.
If you are visiting during the afternoon, the teatime menu features a selection of cakes including carrot cake, a triple chocolate brownie slice and toasted teacake. All of this can be accompanied with a cream tea and one of its many selections of teas. If for some reason this doesn’t sound appealing to you, the dessert menu is also available to order from.
On the main menu and you’ll find modern British cuisine mixed with fusion dishes. Start off your three-course lunch and dinner with a crispy feta and watermelon salad or crumbed halloumi sticks before moving onto mains of pan-fried sea bass, mojo-marinated chicken or a Thai green curry. If salads are more your speed or you just want something quick and light for lunchtime, the kale, chickpea, miso and hummus salad or glow bowl with pea falafel, grains veggies and grilled flatbread offer an alternative to the stereotypical options.
Lastly, onto desserts. There are lots of options to pick from, from decadent chocolatey treats to more traditional British puddings. Tuck into the warm triple chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream or the Bill’s chocolate and hazelnut praline sphere. For the pud purists out there, the apple and salted caramel crumble and the lemon meringue pie are sure to be winners.
Don’t forget to wash all that food down with something off the drinks menu. The Bill’s Collins with vodka strawberry and elderflower is refreshing and the Pineapple Somerset Sour with brandy lemon and rosemary will go down a treat.
