Borough Yards Restaurants: A guide to each and every one

Found just off Stoney Street and only a short walk away from the world-famous Borough Market, Borough Yards is a retail and restaurant development which houses a range of boutique shops and exciting dining destinations.

The development sets itself across a network of once forgotten railway arches and warehouses, including the former Vinopolis site, a large-scale wine store that held exhibitions and offered regular events such as wine tastings. That site closed its doors permanently in 2015 and the space has been left empty ever since...until now, that is. Borough Yards had its premises licenses approved in early July 2021 and has 14 separate units to fill, which will be a mixture of restaurants and shops.

The development is similar to other restaurant and retail hubs that have opened across the capital in recent years, such as Coal Drops Yard in King’s Cross and Hawley Wharf in Camden. So far, Borough Yards has confirmed five of the restaurants that will form it’s line-up and it seems that the developers have opted for the safe route. Instead of taking a chance on fledgling restaurant or street food concepts, it appears that Borough Yards will instead fall back on well established restaurant names that already have sites elsewhere in the capital or across the UK. It is worth noting that the list is not yet complete though (rumours of a new Dishoom at the site are rampant), so a few new concepts could be announced before the development officially opens its doors later this year.

Below, we have put together a list of all of the restaurants that have been confirmed to be opening at Borough Yards, so that you can know exactly what to expect on your first visit. We will also be refreshing this page as more of the line-up is announced, so be sure to check back for updates.

Borough Yard restaurants

Barrafina

Cult tapas joint Barrafina already operates sites across London and now the restaurant will bring its brand of classic Spanish dishes to Borough. Typically, Barrafina sites feature a counter dining bar, where guests can pull up a stool and watch the chef’s at work, so we’re expecting to see the same here.

Parrillan

From the same team behind Barrafina, Parrillan is an outdoor restaurant where guests are able to cook their own meat, seafood and vegetables by using a mini parrilla grill that’s incorporated into each table. This is the second London location for the concept, which first debuted at the Coal Drops Yard development in King’s Cross.

Bar Daskal

The third and final opening from the Barrafina team here is Bar Daskal, a Spanish wine and sherry bar. The bar is named after the owner’s grandfather and alongside its alcoholic tipples, will serve a menu of exclusively cold tapas.

Butchies

Keeping it simple, Butchies serves a short menu of buttermilk fried chicken sandwiches, drinks and sides. This will be the ninth location for the brand, which also operates in areas including Shoreditch and Clapham.

Vinoteca

This is the sixth opening from the popular wine bar and restaurant Vinoteca, which serves a modern European menu alongside an extensive list of wines.
