Looking for vegan restaurants in Birmingham? You’ve come to the right place. The second city has often flown a little under the radar when it comes to great food but it's started to receive deserved plaudits in recent years. In truth, Birmingham’s food scene is brilliant - diverse and vibrant, mixing everything from easy-going cafes and everyday bistros to some of the best fine dining in the country.
That wide-spectrum of quality extends to vegan and vegetarian dining as well. Over the years, a wealth of excellent vegan restaurants in Birmingham have opened their doors, with a wide variety of options available for those who prefer plant-based diets.
Birmingham has long been known as home to some of the best Indian food in the country, from the city centre to the Balti Triangle - the birthplace of the famous balti. Typically a balti is cooked with vegetable oil rather than ghee, so lots of balti restaurants in Birmingham will do vegan-friendly vegetable baltis.
Almost all the Indian and Pakistani restaurants in Birmingham have a host of delicious vegan dishes on their menus, but there are also a number of excellent restaurants purely dedicated to vegan Indian cooking, some of which have made it into our list.
We’ve picked out a list of restaurants that are vegan-friendly, rather than all being out-and-out vegan - some of these restaurants offer lots of vegan choices, whilst others are completely vegan.
